We are mad about brand-new, experimental work that is, above all, masterful in its execution. Easy Lemon residencies are not for random hypotheses, but rather for work that has been bled and cried over, and refined for years. The work should be experimental not experimentation.
The financial reward for these intensive, week-long residencies will not be an adequate compensation of your time and energy. That being said, what we are trying to create is a meeting of creative forces: a wonderful cesspool of the most brilliant, artistic minds in the area. Your work will be discussed by your peers in an honest and friendly atmosphere where you will be able to get serious feedback and engage in deeper discussions than are usually possible with the general public.
This is how an Easy Lemon residency works –
1) after your work has been selected, we engage in a series of conversations about what you’d like to do at the performances/presentations, and how we can best facilitate this
2) we provide pre-publicity via social media, this website, and on a hand-painted poster that will be reprinted around town
3) you present a 15-30 minutes presentation or performance of your work every night for 7 to 10 days (which usually involves an hour or two of open discussion following several of the presentations, if folks want to hang out)
4) presenters keep %100 of the cash collected at the door
Usually residencies are invitational, but if you feel that you have work which would be a perfect fit, and we may not know about you, please send a resume and digital samples to: Tim Hinck at: firstname.lastname@example.org
